Two museums in one; this museum explores the life of the early pioneers of the region, while chronicling the history of the Order of nuns known as "Chanoinesses régulières des Cinq Plaies du Sauveur." The pioneer section of the museum is home to more than 10,000 artifacts of historic importance and worth a detour in its own right. The highlight of the museum, however, is the section devoted to the Chanoinesses régulières, who came from Lyon, France, in 1891 to provide the local people with access to a French Catholic education. The Order is historically significant not only for opening a school here, but also for opening schools in other communities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Quebec, and as far away as Brazil.
